Race details

The Givaudan Ashford 10K returns for a 26th time in 2012 and plans are under way to make the race bigger and better than ever before. The race is seen as one of the leading 10K events in the south east. Run on a town centre route with closed roads and a stadium start and finish, the race is popular with participants and spectators alike.

In addition to the main 10K race there are Fun Runs for the Under 10’s and Under 15’s, which will take place at approximately 11.30 am.

Start time:

The 10K race will take place at 10.00 and the Fun Runs at approximately 11.30 am.

Location:

The race headquarters, start and finish are at the Julie Rose Stadium, Willesborough Road, Ashford TN24 9QX (map).

Route:

The 10K race starts in the Julie Rose Stadium and follows a town centre course using wide roads which are closed to traffic for the duration of the race. Participants then return to the stadium for a finish in front of the main Grandstand.

Water Stations:

Water will be available for all participants at approximately the 5K point in the race, with additional water available at the finish. Participants are urged to ensure they are hydrated fully before beginning the race and if the weather is likely to be warm, you should consider carrying your own supply of water as well.

How to enter:

Postal entries are available until a week before the race at a cost of £15, discounted to £13 for members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs.

You can also enter the race online at either www.runbritain.com and www.runnersworld.co.uk.

Entries may be available on the day, subject to the entry limit not having been reached, for £20.

The entry fee for the Podplus Fun Runs is £3

Prizes:

All finishers will receive a specially designed medal and, in addition, prizes will be available for race winners and winners of age categories. The prizes will be awarded approximately 45 minutes after the first finisher.

Timing:

The race uses IEK Race Timing and participants must collect their race chip on the morning of the race from the Chip Desk in the stadium. Race chips must be handed in after the race and marshals will be available to help remove timing chips from your shoe at the finish line.

Results:

Results will be displayed in the stadium as soon as is practical after the race. In addition, race results will be emailed within a few hours of the race to all participants who have provided a legible email address. Results will be posted to on the Nice Work website on Sunday evening and on the race website as soon as is practical.

Facilities:

Within the stadium there is a secure baggage storage area, showers, toilets, and on site catering.

Accommodation

Parking

There are three car parks available to participants and their supporters. Two of the car parks are in front of, and adjacent to, the Julie Rose Stadium. Substantial additional parking is available at the Givaudan staff car park located a short walk from the stadium entrance. Parking is not allowed on the road outside the stadium.

Please remember that the roads around the stadium are closed to traffic for the duration of the race and you will not be able to exit the car parks until 11.30 at the earliest.
